“Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.” – Carl Jung
Carl Gustav Jung was a Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst who founded analytical psychology. His work has been influential not only in psychiatry but also in anthropology, archaeology, literature, philosophy, and religious studies. – Wikipedia
Reblog these posts as much as you like. No copyright is imposed. About the author: Keith is a "pratyeka" mystic according to Buddhism because his Mystical Experiences of Reality (MER) were spontaneous. (He is not a Buddhist or member of any religion). He had MERs every year from the age of 15 to 35 years of age. Pratyeka mystics don't teach, preach, evangelise, or prosletise what they know. However, when Keith recognises those who are chosen and driven to seek Ultimate Reality he does reach out to them, cautiously, to help them stop floundering and recognise themselves, know what is happening to them. Then his inclination is to remove himself unless called upon. All Is Well.

There is a cute joke about that:
A Hindu yogi walked into the Zen Pizza Parlor and said: “Make one medium vegetarian.” When the yogi got the pizza, he gave the Buddhist monk a $20 bill. The monk pocketed the bill. The yogi asked “Don’t I get any change?” The monk replied, “Change must come from within.”
Ron: Most people cannot get beyond their self-consciousness, so meditation or contemplation may help enable MER.
Me: If I come across the reference to some recent university research showing meditation is/could be detrimental to self consciousness and ego I’ll send it to you. I didn’t read it as meditation is what I suppose could be called ‘contraindicative’ to my mystical state.
Ron: You realize the Real beyond apparent realities, because your experiences come naturally from the outside.
Me: Hmnnn. Hadn’t thought of that. A good thought, well observed. Thank you. I think physicists and brain specialists will eventually prove and see the significance of this outside influence on the reality of human existence.
Ron: No two mystics are exactly alike. For many their experiences of Reality came both from within and from outside.
You have much more experience of this than I do, for which I am very grateful. As hinted above, this is a dichotomy, an indicated genesis that if true will need very careful, dedicated human rather than mystical observation …

But seriously, I surely can’t be the only one to experience MERs as coming from OUTSiDE?
