Q: Do you listen to yourself?
A: Not myself, no! I do a lot of listening through writing though. Writing shows me the realities of existence.
So listening to others is growingly relegated to unavoidable small talk about unreal things. It’s what the majority of humans practice so I go with it, largely unnoticed.
It’s a skill. Sufis call it ‘the cloak of invisibility’, Christians might say it’s a ‘fruit of the Spirit’.
