Over nine hundred and one mentions of the name Keith Hancock, or Keith Michael Hancock have appeared so far in papers published by Academia.edu, according to Academia. Every day Academia notifies me of yet more such papers being submitted to them.
Academia also tells me they’ll identify the papers and their authors if I pay them a yearly fee of $99.
The website says Academia.edu is used by academics in “16,919 universities”, suggesting these include Oxford, Berkeley, MIT, and NYU.
If you have come across any actual evidence of this in papers you have read or others have read and told you about, I’d be grateful if you’d let me know.

About the author: Keith is a "pratyeka" mystic according to Buddhism because his Mystical Experiences of Reality (MER) were spontaneous. (He is not a Buddhist or member of any religion). He had MERs every year from the age of 15 to 35 years of age. Pratyeka mystics don't teach, preach, evangelise, or prosletise what they know. However, when Keith recognises those who are chosen and driven to seek Ultimate Reality he does reach out to them, cautiously, to help them stop floundering and recognise themselves, know what is happening to them. Then his inclination is to remove himself unless called upon. All Is Well.

I get notifications about my name too, but don’t really care. If they liked what I wrote that is nice. If they didn’t I would probably not want to know about it. Academia is just appealing to our ego to get additional funds. I am happy with what I can learn on their website for free.
I just did a search for Keith Hancock on academia.edu and Advanced Search found 11,208 papers containing “Keith Hancock.” I doubt they are all about you. Even Amazon shows several authors named Keith Hancock.
