You want enlightenment, but are you selfless enough to be taken on by a mystic?
Or are you driven by ego, arrogance?
Maybe you’re so cluttered by your culture, selfishness, you are not worthy of mystic instruction?
Ron Krumpos says in his three-part book, The Greatest Achievement and Five Traditions of Mysticism and Mystical Approaches To Life* :
“As teachers, mystics will gladly take on the selfless students, find those driven by ego to be a challenge, yet ignore the selfish as not worthy of instruction.”
The first, he writes, “are easily guided, the second require disciplined direction, the third are hopeless unless they change.”
I’ve seen a guru faced by a respectful mob, a long shuffling line of hopefuls herded by volunteers to the guru for hours. The guru just concentrated for a moment on each would-be student then flicked his eyes left or right, upon which his chelas separated the keepers from the rejects.
The guru told us that ultimately there are no failures.
My own mystical experiences have lead me to know I am not called to be anything but temporarily human, in the world but not of it, certainly not a spiritual teacher. (However, I confess I have nudged people on seeing their painful spiritual turmoil of sloughing off their human attachments …).
In my case though, my calling was spontaneous. There were no humans, teachings, books or human mind stuff like ideologies, religions, logic or reason in my multiple annual awakenings, no recognisable qualifications.
We are in the age of human beings. That age will pass in Reality’s own good time and purpose. There really are no failures.
We’re all fit for final enlightenment. Nothing else really matters. Get used to it. LOL!
All Is Well.
