Are we in another evolutionary period?
Is there an awakening?
Dr Philip Goff is a professor of philosophy at Durham University. The University is the third oldest university in Britain after Oxford and Cambridge.
Dr Goff says, “Most people think consciousness only exists in the brains of complex biological organisms. I defend panpsychism, the view that consciousness pervades the universe and is a fundamental feature of it.”
COMMENT: So far so good. He is talking about the Reality revealed to the mystics. But then he says:
“I argue that panpsychism is best solution to the mind-body problem, the ancient challenge of trying to work out how consciousness and the physical world fit together.”
COMMENT: Big mistake – he has harnessed his insight to his only other experience – that of the worldly human condition – as if that has anything to do with the non biological Reality that merely includes humanity in its indefinable but undeniable rule over the whole cosmos everywhere and is beyond human comprehension, and that defines the mystic …
So that indicates he hasn’t experienced Reality, because Reality is not primarily or exclusively interested in the human condition, only in individual humans, if my mystic experiences are to be believed.
However, my recent reading and listening seem to indicate scientists and scholars are getting a lot closer to the subject of mysticism.
Many are realising consciousness or Reality are not a product of the brain, nor even of evolution. It is and creates all things.
Since the 70’s we’re told universities around the world are taking the subject very seriously. Books, papers and PhD dissertations are now pouring out daily.
We’re hearing the word mysticism a lot more in learned discourses, though no one seems to dare take it further than that. Sometimes they seem to be coyly probing apologetically for even mentioning mysticism, as if trying to draw out hidden personal acknowledgement of the mystic experience.
We’re also seeing this new word, Consciousness. It’s being vigorously examined worldwide. Now we have another new word, Panpsychism. The materialists who say there is nothing but physical matter are under strong attack.
But who needs science? Reality is and we are that! Science is just intellectually heightened curiosity emanating from a mere human mind.
Science produces very helpful technologies but essentially is nothing more than a hobby. It has no effect on Reality. Who needs yet another human religion?
Ironically, Consciousness and Panpsychism, even matter, are all Reality!
Are we seeing the beginnings of a new period of evolutionary enlightenment? Is there an awakening … ?
