How do we know our revelationary, transcendental experiences, “rebirths” etc., are really true?
Simple! We observe our human attachments.
In my spiritual experience, attachments are traps. They include doubt, lust, anger, greed, envy, comparisons, ego, being fashionable, relying on the changing cultural consensus of the day, and religions, all ephemeral mind stuff instead of true, nudging awakenings to our individual selves.
There’s more to existence than being merely victimised by human minds that run in default – as the historic phenomenon of the mystic experience of Reality proves is happening over and over again. Just look at the state of the world throughout human history, how it is completely dominated by runaway, feral minds devoid of the reality of our true spiritual selves.
These attachments tie us to the influences of our families, neighbours, friends, colleagues fellow citizens – all temporary.
They represent our subjective selves rather than our real, everlasting, objective spiritual selves. They are irrelevant obstructions in the way of our true destinies.
One of the exercises of some wisdom schools was to examine these traits in ourselves last thing at night. They are even the contemplations Reality brings to us at three in the morning in the early days of our spiritual awakening …
The persistent spiritually stagnant existence of attachments, human mind stuff, are the criteria I have seen used by a guru to single out who is really ready from thousands of applicants – who really have been called irresistibly to cosmic life.
The mystics’ experiences are optimistic though. Mystics know spirituality is what the human condition is all about.
Our innate spirituality prevails because it is the only reason Reality’s evolutionary process brought us here in the first place …
