I seriously avoid reading the literature on our subject.
I give a prodigious amount of attention to ensure my experiences are protected against other human influences as well as my own.
So it’s enough for me to know there is a substantially growing historical and contemporary human record of Reality’s existence – scientifically, scholarly, and by direct experience.
It’s all part of my spiritual evolution to unattach to anything other than the companionship of Reality. Reality is enough.
Reblog these posts as much as you like. No copyright is imposed. About the author: Keith is a "pratyeka" mystic according to Buddhism because his Mystical Experiences of Reality (MER) were spontaneous. (He is not a Buddhist or member of any religion). He had MERs every year from the age of 15 to 35 years of age. Pratyeka mystics don't teach, preach, evangelise, or prosletise what they know. However, when Keith recognises those who are chosen and driven to seek Ultimate Reality he does reach out to them, cautiously, to help them stop floundering and recognise themselves, know what is happening to them. Then his inclination is to remove himself unless called upon. All Is Well.

Increasingly I read for amusement only. I’m fed up with negativity and confusion amongst writers on more serious subjects. I bought a book by Dr Robert Salzman – Depending on No Thing and got thoroughly glum being told over and over that we have no free will, that we are robots, and that the physical is all there is. Equally I’ll have nothing to do with religious stuff these days. Such a dead end. So I read for amusement – Tom Wolfe for instance. There are so many different and loud opinions on every single subject that it becomes tiring and pointless to sift through it all. Not am I touching the news or the internet in general. I meditate, exercise and play the piano. I seek happier that way.

Sounds like contentment, Anthony! Happiness comes and goes but contentment seems to stick around blissfully in my experience.
Keith.
