Dr. Faggin was a firm, traditional, scientific materialist before the MER struck him unannounced, unexpected and unrequested.
Here he reveals his experience with more background and stunning clarity. He still seems to think science will play a part in fully understanding consciousness/Reality.
(His experience had the same features as mine, though mine were not dramatic).
Dr. Federico Faggin is an Italian physicist, engineer, inventor and entrepreneur. He is best known for designing the first commercial microprocessor, the Intel 4004.
Reblog these posts as much as you like. No copyright is imposed. About the author: Keith is a "pratyeka" mystic according to Buddhism because his Mystical Experiences of Reality (MER) were spontaneous. (He is not a Buddhist or member of any religion). He had MERs every year from the age of 15 to 35 years of age. Pratyeka mystics don't teach, preach, evangelise, or prosletise what they know. However, when Keith recognises those who are chosen and driven to seek Ultimate Reality he does reach out to them, cautiously, to help them stop floundering and recognise themselves, know what is happening to them. Then his inclination is to remove himself unless called upon. All Is Well.

It’s nice stuff but let’s remember all religions seemed to have started by an epiphany of the sort FF had in 1990. Whether there is any real science behind his beliefs will perhaps be revealed by his book which I intend to buy
Yes, I was very much thinking along those lines Keith. I enjoyed the interview and like what I see of the guy. I looked him up on Wikipedia but couldn’t follow the science bit, so I hope the book is rather more explicit. I love his views, anyway.
Fascinating.
