I recently read the eBook version of Nietszche’s autobiography, Ecce Homo: How to Become What You Are, pub., Oxford University Press 2007.
It’s eerie how even the first two pages contain some of my blog posts! I know where my content comes from, but I’m told there is no sign Nietszche’s also came from any such personal mystic experience.
So I’m thinking the social conventions of his age would have been a threat to any declaration of a mystical source for his reputation as a genius … so he hid them!
On the other hand he does seem to be the kind of person to have been combatively delighted to take on conventions he despised!
Eerie!
