DOES AI HAVE TO BE LIKE US TO EVOLVE?

Some people suggest AI cannot make humanity extinct when it takes over humanity’s place in Reality’s evolutionary process.

They suggest this is because AI has no qualia* – that is, AI can’t love, taste, hear, see colours, feel touch, breathe, know beauty or even give birth, etc.

Do they need to? Does the cosmos, existence, need qualia? Where’s the evidence?

(Unlike humans. AI doesn’t even have the lust, anger, greed, attachments, ego, and aggressiveness that has cursed humanity from before writing was known to this very day in world affairs).

Anyway, what part do qualia play in the evolutionary process? Are they necessary? AIs won’t even have to replicate by giving birth, they’ll just build new AIs! (Much less complicated …).

* “Qualia” – think of formless qualities.
