THE WAY OF PEACE

The Way of Peace (Annotated with Biography about James Allen) James Allen, Golgotha Press, is an extraordinarily passionate book about the hidden spiritual reality at the heart of human destiny. (What this Blog is all about too).

Written over 100 years ago, the book is a comprehensive record of Christian mystical experience. Yet nowhere in his less than 100 pages does its author claim to have had the spontaneous personal, mystical experience of Reality that makes a mystic.

What he wrote about therefore presumably came from his rigorous lifetime efforts as a Seeker to satisfy a “hunger and thirst” for what in his day was known as ‘righteousness’ or ‘God’.

Where did this thirst come from in the first place? It clearly doesn’t come for everyone. Some Sufi wisdom schools experience it as Reality calling prepared individuals; as It prepares and calls all such invited ones, some spontaneously, some not, including mystics.

Then, for some unknown reason the author obviously changed his spiritual priorities to address humanity, to share his discovery of how to attain their spiritual identity in this phenomena that rules all existence. Yet as any true mystic knows, this is Reality’s exclusive prerogative.

So the author’s decision to interfere with Reality’s purpose is at odds with actual mystic experiences that leave mystics, “in the world but not of it.”

Mankind has nothing to do with the mystic experience of Reality. In my numerous mystical spiritual experiences it is bestowed from outside all human experience ability, knowledge or human qualification by Reality only, whether the chosen ones like it or not.

However, with the purity of expression that came from his newly acquired abandonment of personality and worldliness that his progress in spiritual awakening had given him, he tells us that throughout history ‘saints’ learned how to meditate and develop their own true spiritual identities above and beyond their mere human identity, just as he presumably thought he had on his own too …

So he warns that personality and worldliness are the source of all the evils of the human mind. “The woe of the world is of its own making.” (This is a mystic teaching).

He taught that mind, personality and worldliness are non existent in Reality, where everything known and unknown exists, including us for the moment. (This is another mystic experience).

So as small as this book appears to be on the outside, inside it can engulf you with a human glimpse of the endlessly expanded, real “final frontier” of all existence where there are no frontiers and infinity does not stop …
