There are two aspects of MER, the Mystic Experience of Reality.
One is the actual experience, the revelation of the existence of a non human, non biological Reality in which all things everywhere exist, even humans … This is ultimate, everlasting objectivity. It exists. It is real, its essence never changing.
MER has been experienced throughout human history. It is basically the same every time, ie. It reveals the outside human existence of a Reality that creates everything; the individuality of all things in an everlasting oneness; an immense knowledge of an existence where all is well; and a joy beyond all human experience. And finally it is completely impervious to attempts to describe it in any human language, it is ineffable – “too great or extreme to be expressed or described in words” (Google translation). These are the basic elements of MER the mystics have experienced in all cultures throughout human existence.
My experiences were powerfully spontaneous. I had never heard of such a phenomena, nor of the words ‘mystic’, or ‘revelation’ etc. I did not understand what was happening to me and told no one for nearly 60 years … In that time I struggled to come to terms with my developing alienation from the human race. Though friendly I even shucked off the comparatively irrelevant human attachments of friendships, and still do.
I recognised the human mind as ephemerally, finite, non lastingly subjective, not objective.
Mind operates in default, out of spiritual control, becomes the source of all evils this side of human death.
The human mind is the cyclic creator and repository of all the world’s perennially historic human failures.
(When I say ‘spiritual’ I do not mean the human spirit. I mean the real, everlasting spirit that is Reality).
The second feature of MER is the lifelong experience it brings into mystics’ daily lives, if my experiences are to be believed these include the humbling, profound infusion into me by Reality of an unquenchable acceptance of my existence, ie. true everlasting love, and the constant companionship of Reality and Its teachings …
So, do I know what life’s all about? I’m not sure. But I do have a recurring insistence we are in process toward Reality’s harvesting after our death of everything our objective consciousness has experienced here.
From all the above I come to the conclusion people are used to being taken seriously when they talk or write about things without having experienced them – so don’t really know anything!!
Actual natural personal, objective rather than subjective experiences are the heart of all human purpose.
All is Well.
