LIVING SPIRITUALLY

Living spiritually is a mystic’s main preoccupation, not trying to be a better human being.

The word mystic is one of the names humans use to identify those who have had the mystical experience of Reality, (MER), that is written about in Mysticexperiences.net.

Traditionally, the use of words like mystic to identify an individual is encouraged in human languages as an acknowledgement of the existence of individuals who have had MERs that the mystics report is the real foundation of all existence – what it’s all about!

Personally, I use the term s a defensive device to explain myself. The name puts off the spiritually dormant. I welcome that because it protects me from idle curiosity.

Consequently, I’m told I’m what buddhists would call a “silent ‘pratyeka’ buddha”. I don’t evangelise, preach, teach or proselytise MER.

All I promise the human condition is that I will be legal, decent and honest. That’s all.

So isn’t publishing Mysticexperiences.net a contradiction of this desire for spiritual solitude?

Yes. Usually I avoid unnecessary human contact but was called to start the web page as a means of personally experiencing ‘spirituality’ every single day, also to offer the comfort and support of my MERs to the spiritually prepared.

Simply put, as the word mystic seems to put off the uninformed expectations of worldly people, its worked remarkably well for me spiritually. It’s been another way of expressing and exploring my experiences, Reality’s ‘enthusions’ without human clamour.

(I made this word ‘enthusions’ up by adding infusion to the word “entheos,” meaning “possessed by a god,” which according to Gemini AI is a combination of “en” (in) and “theos” (god). So, the spiritual etymology of “enthuse” is rooted in the idea of being infused with a divine spirit or inspiration).

That’s how I describe my MERs to myself – as ‘enthusions of Reality’.

Nothing else in life matters anywhere near as much.

It has shown me I am a What not a Who.

It has explained why I’ve never been drawn to be anything more than, “in the world but not of it”.

So I can only answer questions with what I know from my MER experiences – spiritual questions, not questions about human wants.

Humans imposing what they want when they’ve been given all they need is the historical source of all that dehumanises the species. I want no part of that.

Much better is the ‘still small voice’ the bible mentions.

You have to pay deep, disciplined attention to that voice to notice it if it isn’t given spontaneously as it was to me …

It’s still the only reliable connection for non mystics to make with ‘spirituality’, with Reality, so as to live spiritually.

Although the two seem to go hand in hand, or so I have found. I think it would be hard to be mystically inclined while being a horrible human being. Different, I grant you from actually “trying” to be a better human. Nonetheless, I suspect there are few mystics who are not what one might call decent human beings.

  2. Well Anthony, becoming a ‘better human being’ is axiomatic, automatic, once the Reality of all existence, (MER), has been experienced. Then you know your real identity.

The human experience is not an everlasting you. It’s just a temporary cover. It fulfills Reality’s expanding purpose. This purpose is to absorb all consciousness of existence into Its Self.

    As ever, Keith.
