Dear Blog readers and Galileo Commission Members,
I am delighted to invite you to the first Consciousness and Education Conference, taking place at York St John University on 16th & 17th June (with both in-person and online participation available).
We are especially honoured that Dr Federico Faggin will be with us throughout the two days — presenting, engaging in dialogue, and participating in discussion sessions.
For many, Federico needs no introduction. As the originator of the microprocessor and pioneer behind the touchpad and touchscreen, his work fundamentally shaped the digital world. In recent years, however, his focus has shifted toward an even deeper question: the nature of consciousness itself.
Following a transformative awakening experience, Federico has devoted himself to exploring consciousness not as a byproduct of matter, but as a fundamental aspect of reality — a view he articulates powerfully in Irreducible.
His work bridges cutting-edge physics, philosophy of mind, and lived experience, offering a bold alternative to reductionist models.
This conference marks a rare opportunity to spend extended time with Federico in a setting designed for serious inquiry.
Rather than a single keynote appearance, he will be present across both days — sharing ideas, responding to questions, and entering into dialogue with other scholars.
